Floritherapy

Mrs. Lan built the concept of Floritherapy using an interesting combination of philosophies. Her grandparents were Taoist and Confucist. Nuns at a Catholic institution taught her father and her mother often brings her to Buddhist temples. When Mrs. Lan got married, her husband was a follower of the Cao Dai universal religion. She has had the unique opportunity to absorb these different cultures and beliefs as well as master the oriental philosophy.

Mrs. Lan’s love for research, pushed Mrs. Lan to pursue her studies in Japan. She studied to be a chemical engineer and succeeded to get her diploma in 5 years. At the same time, she also successfully completed courses in Ikebana, traditional and European bouquets as well as artificial flowers in Sogetsu School. At the end of her studies, she decided to continue a career with flowers.

Even at a young age, Mrs. Lan’s passion for flowers took her through many courses of floral arrangement and developed her artistic side. Her studies in chemical engineering have given her analytical and scientific side a solid foundation. Furthermore, Mrs. Lan loves to conduct researches. She had the opportunity to develop and practice a science called Floritherapy since 1972. To take this research further, she has studied medicine, mastered the oriental philosophy and naturopathy. The combination of these studies in different fields along with her professional experience contributed an important part to the development and success of Floritherapy, even in the present.

Floritherapy is a unique concept that combines both floral art and science. She uses the deep meaning of flowers through a floral arrangement, which stems from Taoism, the oriental philosophy. She uses the universal laws of Taoism, principles such as Yin and Yang, the five elements and the sky, man and earth. Mrs. Lan incorporates Buddhist practices such as meditation and relaxation with the teachings on balance by Confucius. Floritherapy was created to help the modern man, who lives in a fast-paced and stressful environment, to achieve balance, to find peace and change his quality of life for the better.

Floritherapy can meet today’s needs:

  • Stabilize moral balance

  • Maximize psychological capacity

  • Re-establish a good quality of life

  • Transform stress into positive projections

  • Find love and happiness through flowers

Floritherapy does not only focus on the esthetic beauty of flowers. It takes in consideration the variety, the color, their symbolism and meaning. It manifests through the disposition of various elements within a floral arrangement. Each element has an effect on the person, which conceives and receives the bouquet. By guiding people in finding their balance, flowers can help resolve some of their problems.

Therefore, Floritherapy is a new method, which uses the creation of floral arrangements that could put certain problems into perspective.

Meaning of the Logo

You will find two hands on the logo: the right hand is holding flowers and offers them to the left hand, which is ready to receive them. The right hand is “Yin” and is holding “Yang” flowers. This part of the picture is therefore balanced. In receiving the flowers (Yang), the left hand, which also represents Yang, will have an abundance of positive energy and will become more Yang. Something must be done to regain balance: there will be a transformation. This activity creates an energy that makes the Yin more Yin. When its maximum is reached, balance is re-established. This representation is a manifestation of the negative/positive and Yin/Yang philosophy. The Yin/Yang cannot be separated from the Five Elements and the Universal Laws.

The name “Floritherapy” was used only since 1983, beforehand “Floratherapy” was the proper term (1972-1983). Inside the letter “O”, there is a representation of the Earth and its everlasting movement towards the universe in perpetual expansion. It is impossible to escape the universe and everything that occurs affects us. Every negative and positive energy has an effect on humans and will mold what he will become.

The two hands are positioned below the name “Floritherapy” to represent humans in the balance of  Sky–Earth–Universe.
